CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Through keeping poultry and waterfowl I have met some lovely people. It is always good to hear how birds have settled into their new homes. Lots of customers remain in touch, and I thought that it would be nice to include a page to include photographs of birds in their new homes.

If you have purchased poultry from me do email me with pictures, and a brief paragraph of text to be included, and if at all possible I will try to include them on this web page.

Hi- I came to you some weeks ago now to aquire a cockeral (Lavender Frizzle Pekin) for my lone hen ( her Pyle partner was eaten by a rat if you recall) and I just thought I'd send you the attached picture which I took earlier to show all is well - it's of Buffy trying out the dust bath facilities in his new enclosure! Betty has taken to him as you can see.

The Cockerels are doing fine, as I said in my text the Maran was a lunatic, decided he wasn’t going to go to bed with the girls but was going to fly over the fence and roost in a hedge, took me ages to find him in the dark and frost. He’s settled down now though and likes his ladies. The Wyandotte is in with the growers, the oldest of which is 8 weeks, so he seems somewhat surprised. Last night he decided to camp out and when I went up to check I thought it was just him out, when I went to put him in the house he was playing broody hen to about 10 of the growers, they all popped out from under his wings. He seems to be a very gentle chap though, I just need to get him some ladies for later.

Just a quick note to say thanks for the wonderful Cockerel (Light Sussex).. T has duly named his Freddie – God knows why! I was calling him something completely else after trying to get him to bed on Saturday night- (!) Flew over the fence ran around like a loon and finally tried to go up to roost on some old timber by the garage…. Finally got him into the house, and expecting a repeat went out early last night to find him and the other 5 all crammed in the little house- I don’t know how they fitted ! – Other 3 all tucked up in their big house ! – All they use is the nest box the body of the house is free ! He is great and J thinks he is wonderful … Thanks for showing us around – All we have heard from J the rest of the weekend is Duck, Duck Duck, Duck ! Safe to say I think we will need some !

Happy New Year! Thought you might like to see 'Mistletoe and Merry' - named by my daughter. They're now outside - in at night, as the weather is mild, in a covered run, they love the grass (or should I call it moss! Feel free to tell everyone what lovely top quality birds they are and how pleased I am with them.

Thanks for the lovely picture of Colin by Christina - 7.11.07

Just a quick e-mail to let you know the chickens we got from you on Sunday have settled into their new home very well. They all seem to be integrating together well and are tollerating the children!

Many thanks for all your help - Matt and I are inspired (he has been reading his chicken book on the train this week!) Best wishes

Liz - 10.10.07 (purchased Cochins, Light Sussex and subsequently indian runner and call ducks)

I let all the ducks out today as they all seem to be getting on together. It was fun watching them all patrolling around. Here are a few photos.

Pippa (11.9.07) - Purchased a pair of White Indian Runners to add to her flock

The girls (Cochins and Orpingtons) are doing really well and have settled into their house nicely. They put themselves to bed by about 9pm which is quite amusing to watch and so far it's a novelty trekking down to the bottom of the garden early am before work in my dressing gown and son's oversized green wellies to let them out into their run lol.

They really are beautiful looking birds and you've got them so tame they will eat out of our hands which I didn't expect. So thanks very much for letting us have them - we are really pleased.

Julia (18.7.07)

Thought I would write to let you know how we are getting on with the 5 ducklings (Indian runners) you sold us in March for my sons birthday. They all survived and are thriving. We got our first egg yesterday! My son is over the moon with them and has tamed them.

Thank you so much for such lovely pets, they are little characters!

Jeanette (16.7.07)

Chicks are fine and growing fast - the older ones - the Light Sussex and Gold Laced Orpington - are beginning to look very fine and impressive indeed.

I would like to tell you that we are very impressed with the professional way you run your business - in a nutshell, it is friendly, non-patronising, excellent quality stock kept in good conditions and vaccinated (which is often found only with the big boys, I understand) and value for money. I have recommended you to friends.

Teresa - 24.6.07

Stella (as she is now named) is settling in well and has made herself at home. Loves my shoulder already much to my delight and met my Daisy dog who was quite smitten.

WHAT A RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All 6 Wyandotte eggs hatched and I have 6 healthy fluffy chicks. That’s good breeding for you, you should be very proud. Many thanks again

Just wanted to let you know that the Maran eggs which we collected from you 3 weeks ago have hatched. Four eggs hatched, only two live chicks though. Probably something to do with it being the hens first time. Hopefully both will survive and turn out to be female rather than male.

I've attached a photo of the two. Named Nigella and Vanilla. (Positive thinking on the female theme!) Many thanks for the eggs. I'll let you know how things turn out. Kind regards

Just a quick note to let you know the birds are ALL doing well. They settled in straight away, and our Brahma (Hen) was a natural leader. She rarely pecks the others it's just her size they respect. She is a gentle giant. The Sussex lights, Milly, Molly and Mandy are really growing well. Our Cochin, CoCo is the most inquesitive and was the first to handfeed. But we felt she was a bit left out. So about 3 days after we had got the birds home found a local lady with three 12 week old orps needing a home (say no more). CoCo bonded with them straight away, and has been looking after them as if they were her own chicks. Many thanks for such lovely, healthy and really friendly birds. Please, please keep me posted on any you have for sale - as soon I will have more housing. As you warned us they are addictive and my christmas present is another hen house ! Hope you like the pics, the white beaks are due to the yoghurt (live) which they love. The Brahma and Cochin are coming on so well it's tempting to show them

A beautiful picture of CoCo Cochin - sent in January 2007 - many thanks Sara

Spot the Vorwerk

I thought it is about time I sent you an update on the Buff Sussex cockerel and the Vorwerk chicks. They are doing really well. Chilli has turned in to a magnificent chap and people comment on his size. He is still friendly and runs up to me like a race horse when I return from work. He has finally mastered all of my older hens and they seem to respect him now. My White Wyandotte Henrietta sometimes hangs around with him which is hard to believe as she is such a hard nut but she likes him. The Vorwerks hens are real characters, sometimes they sit in the fir trees during the day

Have taken a few pics of the White Cochins that came from the hatching eggs I bought off you last year. Many thanks,I'm well pleased how they have turned out

Four chickens on a bench

"I thought I would send you a photo of the two Brahmas we bought from you but soon discovered that getting four chickens to stand still is a massive task, worthy of those under taken by Greek Heros. So here is the best I can do, four chickens (our two Brahmas, now named Oprah and Latifa, and our original Warrens named Fred and Ginger) sitting on a bench in the rain...taken through a window for as soon as the garden gate is opened they dash over expecting treats.

I wish to thank you again for such wonderful birds.

Many thanks"

Kathleen and John Woodward (20 April 2005)

"The Brahmas are lovely birds, very docile, each with their own personality. The mother is quite stern looking - you could say she's like the matron figure of the chicken dormitory whilst the daughter is rather daft and slow to catch on when food is about! As for the cockerel, he is very protective of all of his hens and is quick to scream any unwelcome crows and pigeons away. His croaky crowing contests with the other local cockerels always makes people laugh! They make a very good trio!"

Luke (19 May 2005)

Brahma Chicks

"Sweetie and Chocolate are incredibly tame and have adopted us as family in the absence of their mother, who was a little over zealous in her attention. Hopefully they will soon be big enough to go back to the chicken house, but I fear now they are so attached to us they will be constant visitors in the house as during the summer the kitchen door is normally left open. I will keep you informed of their progress as they grow up and let you have a further photo when they are fully grown.

Attached are a couple of photos of Mrs Sussex with her new friends. She has settled extremely well (after a little big of aggro from foggy the leghorn) and seems to be enjoying herself. She is taking food from our hands and is very tame and friendly. We are very happy with her she is now part of the family.

Arnie (Partridge Cochin cockerel Connie (Partridge Cochin) Arnie and Vorwerk hens

Pictures of Arnie and Connie and the Vorwerks - approx a year on from moving to their new home. Thanks for the lovely pictures Alison - Arnie has matured to a magnificent cockerel! (March 2006)

A few months ago we came to you and purchased 3 pekins from you, 1 black, 1 silver and a white one. I thought you might like to know they have settled in very well with my other 3, and the silver one is now sat on 8 eggs,(we are at the 18th day) and eagerly waiting. The little white pekin is the favourite, she is so tame and will eat out of our hands

We had a lovely couple of hours with you looking at the rare breeds, and hope to come again for some ducks once we have sorted out a suitable home for them.

Blue Orpingtons - Mumma Muna (mother), Tinkerbell and Luna (her daughters) happily settled in their lovely new home. Mumma Muna was one of my favourite hens having been kept as a pet on my lawn during the winter months - Tinkerbell and Luna were her babies - I had planned to keep these birds to breed from next year, but after a visit from a poultry thief who stole my cockerel, I decided reluctantly to part with them as I knew they were going to be offered a wonderful life with Becky. I have hatched some chicks from eggs set after the theft, so will hope to breed more of these beautiful birds in 2007.

Thanks for the pictures Becky (May 2006)
